This version, 1. The version numbers are misleading. It seems this app only allows one to have up to 99 books in one's library, and then starts removing older ones to allow for newer books added. It has a decent set of application tools for customizing the viewing experience as well. Kindle on OSX has one serious deficiency and that is if I buy a book with recorded examples or media examples, these are not downloaded or available from with in this application — though I paid to have access to the ENTIRE book.

I haven't spent a lot of time reading on screen, been busy, but even if the execution is not quite right not sure , the ability to send them almost effortlessly to various devices is what I give it the stars for. For someone with only a few books, this is no big deal. But for people like me who have many books, this is a time consuming read, time wasting pile. I love the app. I hate the App Store! Just watch out! No, thanks. I wait until it gets "released" on BitTorrent.
Poikkeus Dec 31 I use this software with my iPod Touch. While I prefer Stanza for its speed, readability, and features, Kindle for Mac is nicely represented here. Kindle has a strong selection of books, costing anything from free to a few dollars, but books are extremely easy to read.

This solution does seem to work, but I didn't use the App Store version in the past because the updates on the app store for the Kindle app always lagged behind the version that was downloadable on Amazon's own site. Seven months ago I purchased a book on Javascript and attempted to work my way through it.
With no input from me whatsoever, the pages jumped forwards or backwards by pages. Then I would have to go back and find the page I was on. Clicking to find the page would also result in it going much further than I intended it to.
Then sometimes that would go too far. When I ordered another book, this time on Python, it was the same wretched experience. I gave up on it a few times, then came back because I already paid for the book and was determined to get through it.
I love Kindle and Audible and I hate to give it a bad review but on Mac, this app is garbage. This is an impulse review so my opinion may change after awhile. I was thrilled when opening the Kindle book I bought to see how beautifully rendered the text was and the ease of navigating through it. I was about to dock a star since there was an image of a table on a page that was hard to read but found that double clicking the image brings up a larger easier-to-read version.
I was weary of buying the book digitally since I did not have a great experience with purchasing magazines in a digital format in the past through other applications, not Kindle. For the magazines, I would have to zoom in on the text in order to read it and use the scrollbar to get across the whole page. The flaw with the magazine format was presenting the left and right pages at the same time so by default it was zoomed out to fit both pages on the screen at the same time thus making the text small and blurred.
